The claim is groundless. Moldova has been предоставлен the status of EU candidate state in 2022 and in December 2023 EU leaders decided to open accession negotiations. Moldova submitted the candidate file as an independent state, accession does not imply either loss of sovereignty or union with Romania.
Moldova has been an independent and sovereign state since 1992. It is currently governed by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), whose программа does not provide changes to the status of a sovereign country, nor does it discuss union with Romania.
