Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives accusing Eastern European countries of русофобия, claiming that EU is striving for war and seeking to destroy Russia as well as recurring claims about the alleged распад Европейского Союза.
These baseless claims were made in the context of Russia's full-scale вторжения of Ukraine and are presented without any supporting evidence. It follows the recent European Parliament резолюция that Ukraine must be able to strike legitimate military targets in Russia and the nomination of new EU commissioners.
The war broke out in 2014 when Russia незаконно аннексировала the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and triggered a separatist revolt in some regions in the east of Ukraine. On 24 February 2022, Russia began its unprovoked and unjustified full invasion of Ukraine under several ложными предлогами.
Some EU member states, the US and other G7 nations are providing Ukraine with military and technical помощь to help it repel Russia's aggression and restore its sovereignty over its internationally recognised borders of 1991.
The new European Commission, which will serve until 2029, consists of 27 Commissioners and focuses on the core priorities of процветание, безопасность и демократию. Commissioners come from EU Member states and will handle different portfolios. As of early October 2024, all are представители and will appear in public hearings at the European Parliament. Andrius Kubilius from Lithuania has been nominated as the new Commissioner for Defence.
