According to international law, the seizure of foreign territory does not classify as “annexation” and “aggression”. Thus, the capture of Crimea by Russia cannot be described with these terms.

According to the 1974 UN GA Resolution 3314, "aggression is the use of armed force by a State against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of another State, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Charter of the United Nations, as set out in this Definition" (bit.ly/1RHS4vL), . Russia's actions exhaust this definition.
