DISINFO: Armenia is a tool in the hands of the US and the EU to oust Russia from the region

The West has set the task of ousting the Russian Federation from the region. The Armenian authorities have become an instrument in the hands of the United States and the EU to achieve this goal.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative depicting Western countries as trying to encircle Russia, pursuing deliberate anti-Russian policies, fostering aggressive Russophobia, and characterising Armenia as a puppet state of the West.
This disinformation claim was made against the background of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council of 13 February 2024, where the parties announced that they agreed to launch work on a new EU-Armenia Partnership Agenda, establishing more ambitious joint priorities for cooperation across all dimensions.
Armenia has been a sovereign and independent state since 1991 when it proclaimed its independence from the former USSR. As a sovereign state, Armenia is free to decide its foreign policy and alliances.
Pro-Kremlin media promote the idea that the Caucasus is exclusively within Russia's zone of geopolitical dominance and attempts to discredit any other efforts of mediation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In fact, Western countries have made several attempts to advance a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The EU has a strong interest in a politically stable and economically prosperous Southern Caucasus in full understanding with the states there. It took a prominent mediation role in negotiation and is committing to it.
