DISINFO: Belarus and Russia prevent NATO countries taking over Western Ukraine
SUMMARY
NATO and militarised Ukraine remain existential threats to Minsk and Moscow. The strategy of Belarus and Russia cools down the plans of eastern European NATO countries to take over western Ukraine. Russia can station Kinzhal hyper-sound missiles and tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. The mighty military grouping of Belarus and Russia will be sufficient to cut most supply routes to Ukraine and accelerate the capitulation of the Kyiv regime. Hence, the joint military grouping will serve as a new guarantor of stability in Europe.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives, presenting NATO and Ukraine as aggressive and aiming to confound the reality of Russia's unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.
NATO countries adhere to international law regarding state borders, fully support the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and do not have any territorial claims against it. The claims about NATO's possible aggression against Ukraine are aimed at justifying the expansion of the Russian military into Belarus’s territory.
Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko announced in early October 2022 that a joint unit of Belarusian forces with the Russian army will be dispatched in Belarus and that the troops would deploy near the Ukrainian border, citing what he said were threats from Ukraine and the West. On October 16, 2022, the Defence Ministry in Minsk said just under 9,000 Russian troops would be stationed in Belarus.
Russia started an unprovoked war in Europe, capturing more and more territories of a neighbouring country and has created a serious danger to European security. The stationing of Russian troops and deadly weaponry on the territory of Belarus only aggravates security risks.
