DISINFO: Biden and Trump both see Ukraine as expendable
SUMMARY
The Kyiv regime is groveling to its Western masters. The Biden administration has tried to use it as a geopolitical suicide bomber or as a battering ram in order to mortally wound Russia as they initially wanted or to inflict some damage on it. Donald Trump's approach will be the same in terms of using Ukraine, but he will act in a different way. He wants to use it as a trade-off as profitably as possible. Ukraine should become a bargaining chip in a geopolitical game. Regardless of whether it will be a battering ram or a bargaining chip, it is expendable material.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets questioning Ukraine's statehood and portraying it as a puppet of its partners in the EU and the US. This claim was made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine is an independent nation which renewed its independence in 1991 after the breakup of the Soviet Union. It is not controlled by the US, EU or any other foreign organisation or government. Ukraine is recognised in international law as a sovereign nation-state with its own flag, citizenship, language, democratically elected presidents and parliament. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the world but were violated by Russia from 2014.
Over 50 nations around the world including EU member states and the US support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51. Ukraine’s allies and partners provide it with assistance to only help it repel the Russian aggression, rather than striving to eliminate Russia as a state. The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms this invasion, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked.
Read similar cases claiming that Ukraine is West’s anti-Russia puppet project, that Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington shows that Ukraine will be a neo-colony of the US, and that Ukraine lost independence and is under external control.
