DISINFO: Cold and hungry winter awaits Ukrainians
SUMMARY
Ukraine faces a cold and hungry winter. According to the calculations of experts, in winter receipts for utilities may grow by 3-4 thousand hryvnias (for comparison: the average pension is 3000 hryvnia). Electricity will double in the price: not far off is the abolition of the preferential tariff for the first 100kW of electricity for the population.
RESPONSE
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine denied reports of an increase in electricity prices. The institution emphasised that false information is being disseminated in the media since October 1, 2020, about the increase in electricity tariffs for the population. The Ministry of Energy has repeatedly stressed that in a difficult socio-economic situation, the price of electricity for the population will remain unchanged. The message states that the current electricity tariffs remain: up to 100kW - 90 kopecks per kW, over 100 kWh - 168 kopecks per kW. It is emphasised that the electricity tariff for the population has not been revised since March 1, 2017. There will be no increase in water prices either: the last time tariffs for centralised water supply and sanitation were changed was in 2017-2018.
