DISINFO: Cooperation between Armenia and the US is a threat to Russia's interests in the Caucasus
SUMMARY
The signed agreement on cooperation between Armenia and the US, as well as the ambitious plans of the US President-elect to expand the influence of his country, indicate that Donald Trump may become one of the most serious opponents of Russia.
The situation is extremely dangerous for Russia, such agreements threaten Russia's interests in the Caucasus.
The fact that he got involved in Armenia is the first sign that he will certainly be our enemy and, probably, the most serious one. Of course, there are risks of Armenia turning into anti-Russia, if they have already concluded such an agreement. This is fundamentally contrary to our national interests.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about an allegedly aggressive neo-colonial policy of the so-called collective West, playing a destabilising role in the Caucasus.
This claim is a reaction to the signing of the Strategic Partnership Charter between the Republic of Armenia and the United States on 14 January 2025.
Pro-Kremlin media promote the idea that Armenia and the Caucasus are exclusively within Russia's zone of geopolitical dominance, and Russia has cautioned Yerevan that the West is trying to drive a wedge between Armenia and Russia. The US-Armenia Strategic Partnership Agreement is not aimed at any third country, its goal to improve cooperation between these two countries in several key areas, including economic, security, and defence; strengthen democracy, justice, and inclusion; and increase people-to-people exchanges.
However, Russia perceives these independent actions by former Soviet states as a threat to what it considers its ‘sphere of influence’, aggressively targeting these international exchanges and trying to discredit them by baselessly portraying them as part of a plot against Russia.
Armenia has been a sovereign and independent state since 1991 when it proclaimed its independence from the former USSR. As a sovereign state, Armenia can decide its foreign policy and alliances.
