Disinformation regarding the poisoning of Navalny. There is no proof that the poisoning of Navalny took place to make a pretext for European sanctions against Russia. Contrary to the claim, Alexei Navalny’s poisoning was not a strange story made up by Europe, but a documented fact. Navalny was poisoned during an internal flight in August 2020 and flown to Germany for emergency medical treatment. European experts stated that Alexei Navalny was poisoned with the extremely toxic chemical weapon Novichok. This was established during the activist's stay at the Charite hospital. These findings were later independently corroborated by labs in France and Sweden, and finally confirmed by the OPCW, which stated that "[t]he biomarkers of the cholinesterase inhibitor found in Mr Navalny’s blood and urine samples have similar structural characteristics to the toxic chemicals belonging to schedules 1.A.14 and 1.A.15."
A special investigation by Bellingcat, The Insider, CNN and Der Spiegel identified members of the Russian FSB unit involved in the attempt on Navalny’s life. Later Navalny duped an FSB agent into revealing details of the operation against him. The agent admitted that Navalny was poisoned by FSB. The agent said an attacker had placed the poison along the inner seams of a pair of Navalny's underwear.
