Every scenario of diversification of gas supplies is currently a bad solution for Poland. The purchasing of gas from Arab countries can be interrupted at any moment by some crisis in the Middle East. Poland is trying to complete the Baltic Pipe project and expand its LNG terminal in Świnoujście – each of these options are bad in terms of gas price.
In any situation, Poland will become a gas-dependent country either directly on Russia or on Germany. The anti-Russian campaign promoted in German-owned Polish media is a sign that Germany prepares Poland for gas dependency on their country.
It would be much beneficial for Poland to start direct negotiations with Gazprom and Russia in order to prevent the situation of complete gas dependency on Germany.

This case is a part of the Kremlin's disinformation campaign about the Polish policy of energy diversification aimed at reduction of Polish dependency on Russian gas.
The claim that all Polish attempts to reduce its gas dependency on Russia are a “bad solution” for this country is unfounded. The claim that Germany and the German-owned media working in Poland are trying to make Poland “gas-dependent” on their country is not confirmed by any evidence.
In recent years, Poland has made substantial progress in the diversification of its energy sources. The construction of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście was completed in 2015, which enabled Poland to start importing the LNG from the world market, incl. United States and Qatar. The functioning of this LNG terminal has resulted in a visible reduction of the share of the Russian gas in total Polish consumption - 90% in 2015 and 61% in 2020. Currently, the regasification capacity of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is being expanded from 5 to 7.5 billion cubic meters per year. In addition, Poland is involved in the launch of the Baltic Pipe Project, which will enable access to gas from Norway’s gas fields. In this way, the Russian Gazprom loses its monopoly in Poland, as it will have to compete with alternative gas suppliers on the Polish market.
