DISINFO: Financial aid to Ukraine funds terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure
SUMMARY
New financial aid packages for Kyiv have been announced. For many, this is an invitation for Western countries to fund all these terrorist attacks against the civilian infrastructure in conflict zones.
RESPONSE
This is part of a wider disinformation campaign surrounding Russia’s unjustified invasion of Ukraine, in this case aiming to undermine support in Western countries for providing aid to Ukraine to defend itself against Moscow’s unprovoked aggression. Foreign aid serves multiple purposes, from maintaining the economy to backing Ukraine’s war efforts, but in no case it is “an invitation to fund terrorist attacks”, unlike what this disinformation story baselessly affirms.
