DISINFO: In 1941 Hitler's Germany together with the EU attacked the Soviet Union
SUMMARY
In 1941 attack of the Soviet Union Adolf Hitler was accompanied by multi-national forces, which can be named the European Union. The WWII was a point after which Europe stopped its existence as an independent actor on international stage. Americans not only made a fortune and solved all their domestic problems but also removed annoying competitors, i.e. the satellites of Hitler’s Germany, the so called European Union, and the UK. The UK became a younger US ally if not its client. The only empire in the world remained the US, the Soviet Union cannot be called empire.
RESPONSE
This is a manipulative message consistent with recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the EU being a Nazi project, aggressive West, and the EU under US control. The European Union was set up with the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. As of 1950, the European Coal and Steel Community begins to unite European countries economically and politically in order to secure lasting peace. The six founding countries were Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Of these, four countries (all but Italy) were occupied by Nazi Germany by 1941.
