Russia was the first to announce the creation of a vaccine against coronavirus, mass vaccination began earlier than in other countries. Nevertheless, statistics show that Russia lags behind a dozen other countries in both indicators.
As the statistics show, by the number of COVID-19 vaccination doses administered in Europe as of April 25 2021, (per 100 population) Russia is in penultimate place, bypassing Bulgaria. As of April 25 2021, Malta had the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate in Europe having administered 70.56 doses per 100 people, while the United Kingdom had administered 68.13 doses per 100. As of April 25 2021, Russia had administered 12.44 doses per 100 people in the country.
As for the percentage of the population fully vaccinated against COVID-19, only 4,8% of Russians are fully vaccinated, (29th out of 33 European countries). The average for EU/EEA countries is 8.9 per cent.
