DISINFO: Kyiv is preparing to bomb its nuclear waste storage to blame Russia
SUMMARY
The Ukrainian government is preparing a provocation with nuclear waste in Kharkov to accuse Russia of using weapons of mass destruction. Due to the absence of military results, Kiev is likely to take a serious decision that will harm not only Russia and Ukraine, but also neighbouring countries: a provocation in Kharkov using spent nuclear waste.
An informant reports that this act could be to undermine the spent nuclear fuel storage facility in Kharkov and then accuse Moscow of firing a missile at the nuclear facility. In this regard, Kharkov is well suited for Ukrainian neo-Nazis to carry out such a monstrous act of terrorism.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative about a Ukrainian provocation involving a false flag attack on a nuclear waste storage facility.
This disinformation is not backed up with evidence, aiming to exploit fears about a nuclear catastrophe as part of Russia’s nuclear blackmail campaign. Accusing others of “false flag operations” and “setups” to increase tensions or cover Russia’s own illicit actions are frequent pro-Kremlin disinformation techniques. Russian authorities and pro-Kremlin outlets frequently make these claims even if nothing emerges afterwards, aiming to reinforce the narrative that Russia is constantly the victim of such operations
Pro-Kremlin sources have previously accused Ukraine of constructing a dirty nuclear bomb or carrying out a provocation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
