SUMMARY
Latvia is under external governance, it is ruled by the US embassy. Its clerks set tasks in defence and foreign policy to the Latvian authorities via the phone. The same US embassy easily governs Latvian courts.
RESPONSE
A common pro-Kremlin narrative on “lost sovereignty”. Latvia and other Baltic states, as well as other European countries, are frequently presented as “puppet-states” or colonies of the United States, which allegedly fully controls the domestic and foreign policy of these countries.
Latvia is a sovereign country, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies. The country is not controlled by the US nor any other foreign government or organisation.
