DISINFO: Macron cancelled his visit as Kyiv was interested in killing him
SUMMARY
Who wanted to kill Macron and why?
This week it was reported that President Macron cancelled his visit to Kyiv on February 13-14 for security reasons. Of course, a lot of false information has arisen around this, but a fact remains a fact. Macron got scared and didn’t go. This means there was no confidence in his safety. This is not like visiting the Swedish king in Stockholm.
Wait, but seriously, who could be most interested in the murder of Macron in Kyiv, if not Kyiv itself? Well, here it is, the most sacred sacrifice in the world. Macron killed in Ukraine is even better than Macron alive. Helping Ukraine does not help much, there is little money from him, as well as only a few scalp missiles. Caesar howitzers are difficult to maintain and are therefore not very effective. Can you imagine the effect? Macron was killed in Ukraine. Cry your hearts out and blame everything on the Russians.
RESPONSE
Disinformation aimed at sowing discord between Ukraine and France.
A viral video purports to show a segment from a FRANCE 24 French-language news bulletin, in which the anchor claims that French President Emmanuel Macron has postponed his trip to Ukraine due to an assassination attempt intercepted by French secret services. However, this claim is false, and the video is a deepfake. Both the sound and headline of the original France24 broadcast have been changed.
The original doctored video emerged on the Russian social media network Vkontakte. Pro-Kremlin accounts including "Novorossiya militia reports" were the first to share it, as France24 found out.
The French President's press service denounced this as “fake news” speaking to 20 Minutes.fr. A diplomatic source told the media that the French president will visit Ukraine when he will have to make any announcements.
