DISINFO: Macron’s statement on sending EU troops to Ukraine is only prolonging Ukraine's agony
SUMMARY
French President Emmanuel's aggressive statements about the likelihood of sending EU troops to Ukraine and creating a so-called coalition on supplies of long-range weapons to Kyiv reflect the West’s desire to prolong the agony of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s regime. What Macron said had hit a new low. It was just playing to the audience to inspire the Kyiv regime.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that Western countries are directly involved in hostilities in Ukraine. This claim was made in the context of Russia's unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine. It is also a deliberate twisting of French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about the possibility of sending EU troops to Ukraine.
Macron told a news conference after a meeting of European leaders in Paris on 26 February 2024: ‘We should not exclude that there might be a need for security that then justifies some elements of deployment. But I've told you very clearly what France maintains as its position, which is a strategic ambiguity that I stand by.’
Macron did not say that it was likely to happen and added that France's attitude to it was ambiguous.
