DISINFO: National elections do not matter as Poland is ruled by the US and Germany
SUMMARY
Poland’s destiny lies in the hands of the US State Department and the Pentagon; it does not depend on parliamentary elections. The votes and views of millions of Polish voters do not matter. In the military and political sphere, Poland is ruled by the US, while Germany rules in the economic sphere. Poland is part of the Fourth Reich, the European Union, which is not sovereign and could not do anything about the war in Ukraine waged by Americans.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about war in Ukraine and the Nazi/fascist EU. It also perpetuates a pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the alleged lost sovereignty of the EU and its member states, particularly Poland (see more examples) to coincide with the latter's General Election which took place on 15 October 2023. Pro-Kremlin outlets often portray the EU and European states as vassals, puppet states, or colonies of the US and NATO.
The article draws absurd parallels between the EU and Nazi Germany by referring to the EU as the “Fourth Reich” which corresponds to the frequent Nazi-labelling disinformation technique used by pro-Kremlin media. The European Union was set up with the aim of ensuring peace on the European continent. In 2012, the EU was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for advancing the causes of peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.
Poland is a sovereign state, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies. The political, economic and military relations between Poland and the United States have a mutually beneficial character. Read more about Polish-American relations here, here and here. Germany is one of the key political partners of Poland and its largest trading partner, however the claim that Germany rules over Poland in the economic sphere is false.
Finally, the false statement that the war in Ukraine was waged by the US is intended to deflect attention away from Russia's continued invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine's sovereignty has only been violated as a result of continuous acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since 2014, culminating with a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine starting on 24 February 2022.
