DISINFO: NATO behaviour with Russia and Belarus is unfriendly
SUMMARY
NATO continues the strategy of so-called containment of Russia and Belarus. The Alliance is pushing its infrastructure closer to the border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. Moscow and Minsk will react to these unfriendly actions.

The recurring narrative about the unfriendly position of NATO toward Russia and Belarus.
NATO is a defensive alliance, whose primary aims are to maintain peace and safeguard the independence, security and territorial integrity of its members. Moreover, NATO poses no threat to Russia. During the Warsaw summit in July 2016, NATO has made it clear that "The Alliance does not seek confrontation and poses no threat to Russia". This was also reaffirmed in the Brussels Summit Communiqué of 14 June 2021.
For more than two decades NATO has worked to build a partnership with Russia, including through the NATO-Russia Council (NRC). However, NATO-Russia practical cooperation has been suspended since 2014 in response to Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine.
NATO relations with Belarus was based on the pursuit of common interests. The deterioration of these relations was caused by the ongoing development since August 2020. In November 2021, Allies suspended all practical cooperation, both civilian and military, between NATO and Belarus, while maintaining dialogue, as necessary.
