SUMMARY
NATO is creating a hotbed of instability in Europe. Although initially, the bloc should exist to strengthen peace and security, it is not coping with this task. This bloc was created for confrontation. It continues to perform these functions because it is not focused on anything else. It does not bring any stability to the continent. On the contrary, it is a destabilising element. Russia is striving for normal relations with the countries of the Alliance, but the same cannot be said about it.
NATO is trying to impose its point of view on Moscow, but it does not accept other points of view.
RESPONSE
Recurring disinformation narrative about NATO, part of consistent disinformation attacks on the alliance and its members, intensified after the NATO summit last June 14th.
The primary aim of the alliance is to maintain peace and safeguard the independence, security and territorial integrity of its member states.
As for the relations with Russia, for more than twenty-five years, NATO has worked to build a partnership with Russia, including through the NATO-Russia Council (NRC). While NATO stands by its international commitments, Russia continues to breach the values, principles, trust, and commitments outlined in agreed documents that underpin the NATO-Russia relationship.
NATO Summit Communiqué issued in Brussels in June 2021, clearly stated: "Until Russia demonstrates compliance with international law and its international obligations and responsibilities, there can be no return to “business as usual”. We will continue to respond to the deteriorating security environment by enhancing our deterrence and defence posture, including by a forward presence in the eastern part of the Alliance. "
NATO leaders reaffirmed, that "NATO does not seek confrontation and poses no threat to Russia. Decisions we have taken are fully consistent with our international commitments, and therefore cannot be regarded by anyone as contradicting the NATO-Russia Founding Act."
