DISINFO: NATO is encircling Russia by trying to subjugate Ukraine and Belarus
SUMMARY
In recent years, the globalists have been trying to surround Russia with hotbeds of instability. The officially announced plan is the creation of the Baltic-Black Sea Alliance. The essence of this plan is to isolate Russia from Europe, from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south, by surrounding it with hostile states. Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia were admitted to NATO in 2014 and became obedient US satellites. Ukraine has become a staging ground for US troops without any NATO membership. The enemies of Russia would also like to tear off Belarus.
RESPONSE
Multiple recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives alleging the West is encircling Russia and has anti-Russian policies; also claiming that Ukraine and the Baltic states are colonies of the US.
There is no anti-Russia campaign. Western governments have reacted to the actions of the Kremlin undermining international stability and security, such as illegal annexation of Crimea, the downing of flight MH17, interference in the US as well as in European electoral processes, poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the UK.
The Kremlin has also been criticised and sanctioned for specific domestic policies that violate human rights in Russia, such as the poisoning of the opposition politician Alexei Navalny.
NATO does not prepare for the war against Russia (or against any other country). NATO is a defensive alliance, whose purpose is to protect its member states. The Alliance announces its military exercises well in advance and they are subject to international observation. NATO strongly supports efforts to build confidence and transparency in military activities and exercises.
Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are independent states, they are not satellites of other countries and do not serve as staging grounds for NATO's troops against Russia. They became the members of the alliance in 2004. All military cooperation between Ukraine and NATO is based on bilateral agreements ratified by the respective governing bodies. The cooperation rests on respect to Ukraine's sovereignty and independence.
