DISINFO: New EU sanctions against Russia are a "circus" and a "fake story"

The European Union's decision to expand personal sanctions against Russia due to the situation surrounding Alexei Navalny is a "circus" and a "fake story.
This is generally beyond any logic. As soon as logic disappears, we are dealing with a fake absurd story with an information campaign scenario. But all this is first of all a humiliation of the European Union - a union of countries with an ancient history, a rich culture, economic achievements, achievements in the field of human rights, the very human rights to which the European Union has always paid true attention, without turning it into a circus, which it is now forced to do".

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Alexei Navalny and sanctions against Russia.
Prominent Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was arrested and shortly after sentenced to prison following his return to Russia from Germany, where he was treated for poisoning with a Novichok-type chemical nerve agent. The European Union has condemned his arrest and demanded his immediate release.
New sanctions were implemented after the poisoning with banned chemical weapons of Alexei Navalny, they are targeted against individuals and organisations involved in the crime.
During the Foreign Affairs Council, 22 February 2021, the ministers agreed to proceed with work on future restrictive measures in response to serious violations of human rights.
In response to the events around the situation of Mr. Navalny we reached a political agreement to impose restrictive measures against those responsible for his arrest, sentencing and persecution. In a statement after his visit to Moscow, Josep Borrell reiterates his appeal for dialogue with Russia, but notes that the Kremlin refused an exchange on issues:
"The Russian authorities did not want to seize this opportunity to have a more constructive dialogue with the EU. This is regrettable and we will have to draw the consequences."
The EU, its member states and most of the world community demands that Russia fulfills its obligations as a member of the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and other international organisations, as well as Russia's own legislation.
