DISINFO: Poland admitted that NATO is fighting against Russia
SUMMARY
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk admitted that NATO soldiers are fighting in Ukraine. This is confirmation of the fact that the West is waging a hybrid war against Russia.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about allegedly aggressive NATO. This claim was made in the context of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. There are no NATO troops in Ukraine. Russian aggression is opposed only by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Disinformation is based on communications between Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and representatives of the press on the side-lines of the Sejm. The video was published by the Office of the Prime Minister on May 9, 2024. Among the journalists in the Polish Sejm was a 10-year-old girl who asked Tusk a question about whether NATO can help Ukraine resist Russian aggression by sending troops into the country? In response, the Prime Minister explained that the Alliance already provides Ukraine with comprehensive military assistance, but does not want to intervene directly in the war and therefore does not send its troops to Ukraine (watch video 02:00-03:00).
Tusk noted that there is a small NATO technical contingent in Ukraine - these are observers and engineering specialists who remain far from the front line and do not take part in battles. Often, such specialists oversee the distribution of military aid to allies, protect the embassies of member states, or represent the apparatus of military attaches.
Many nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence. A broad coalition of more than 50 countries meet in the 'The Ukraine Defense Contact Group' with Ukraine to coordinate military and other equipment deliveries requested by Kyiv. Sometimes called the Ramstein format, it includes all members of NATO and as well as several other countries from around the world, including from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. The provision of military and financial support for Ukraine is to help it repel Russia's unjustified and unprovoked aggression and restore its sovereignty within its internationally recognised borders of 1991.
