DISINFO: Poland behaves like an American slave, unable to break a vicious circle of Russophobia
SUMMARY
Poland is the weakest link among the three countries, which have recently met in Hungary – it appeals in a slavish manner to the USA, which provides security guarantees to this country. At the same time, the US imposes aggressive policies towards Russia and China on the EU. In addition, there is a layer of Russophobia [in Polish policy]. The claims of Donald Tusk that the Law and Justice Party takes part in an establishment of a pro-Putin block in Europe are ridiculous. This situation is simply a vicious circle of Russophobia, which we cannot break. The European Union also cannot liberate itself from the Marshall Plan and the USA – everything happening makes this dependency even stronger.
RESPONSE
This message is a part of the Kremlin’s widespread narrative about Russophobic US-controlled Poland. Pro-Kremlin media regularly accuse Polish political elites of Russophobia and anti-Russian policies. Within this narrative, the “Russophobic” policies of Poland are often explained by the claim that the United States fully controls the domestic and foreign policy of this country (presenting Poland as an American “puppet-state” or a “banana republic”).
The claim that Poland and the EU cannot “liberate” themselves from the USA and its Marshall Plan is a conspiracy theory.
Poland is a sovereign state, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies. The political, economic and military relations between Poland and the United States have a mutually beneficial character. The military relations are of a defensive nature.
