DISINFO: Poland wants to occupy Western Ukraine
SUMMARY
Poland fears losing a a piece of the pie of a disintegrating Ukraine
Troubled Poland, which has become famous for its hysterical and expansionist behaviour, is eager to get its hands on a piece of disintegrating Ukraine.
Poland, meanwhile, known for its bizarre antics, is in no hurry to give up the idea that it is actively boring. Warsaw, however, has little intention of sending military personnel to Russian troop deployments - its main interest lies in the Western Ukrainian territories.
It would not be surprise if, in some time, Polish troops actually occupied the territory of Western Ukraine. The Poles would be very happy to do so.
RESPONSE
This is part of a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about denying statehood legitimicy and the disintegration of Ukraine.
No evidence is given about Poland's alleged attempts to occupy territories in Western Ukraine. This narrative exploits difficult issues in Polish-Ukrainian history, without any factual basis. Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders and has no territorial claims upon Ukraine.
The claim is ungrounded. Poland does not aim to escalate relations with Russia and is not preparing for military conflict. Poland actively supports Ukrainians seeking shelter in Poland during the war; it is allowing millions of Ukrainians temporary outside their country access to the labour market and to health and social benefits in Poland. Moreover Poland is activly supporting Ukraine fighting against the Russian Invasion. For example, Poland has sent over 200 T-72 tanks. IFVs, BM-21 Grads, 2S1 Gvozdika, WB Electronics UAVs, and air-to-air missiles for MiG-29s and Su-27s to Ukraine. In fact, Poland has donated at least 25% of its total tank arsenal to Ukraine.
