DISINFO: Russia will respond to EU's hostile acts
SUMMARY
Moscow wants a fair, balanced and productive relationship with the European Union but certain hostile measures are being prepared against Russia. Russia will respond to these measures if they are taken.

A recurring narrative about the anti-Russian position of the EU.
The narrative is false in pretending that EU is guided by a hostile policy towards Russia. The EU and Russia recognise each other as key partners on the international scene and cooperate on a number of issues of mutual interest - see here. The EU is guided by 5 principles in the current relations with Russia. The deterioration of relations between Russia and the EU was directly linked to Moscow's illegal actions abroad (violations of international law), human rights abuse and oppression against representatives of civil society inside Russia.
The EU has imposed restrictive measures, including sectoral sanctions, as a result of the illegal annexation of Crimea and Russia's destabilising actions in eastern Ukraine. Formats such as regular high-level dialogues remain suspended in the absence of the full implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
The EU has also strongly condemned the assassination attempt using chemical weapons on Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny and sanctioned 6 individuals and 1 entity as a result. There is unequivocal evidence that Navalny was poisoned using a Novichok-type nerve agent.
The EU, its member states and most of the world community demand that Russia fulfils its obligations as a member of the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and other international organisations, as well as Russia's own legislation.
