Pro-Kremlin disinformation claim aimed at downplaying the importance of military assistance to Ukraine. This claim was made in the context of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine and of announcements about the provision of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by its supporters.
The appearance of such aircraft in service with the Ukrainian army means a significant strengthening of the Ukrainian air defence system and, in fact, requires the adoption of NATO standards by the Ukrainian air forces.
F-16s possess high tactical capabilities, including air superiority and support for ground forces, which could significantly impact the conflict dynamics. As noted by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, F-16 fighters arrived in Ukraine on August 5 and are already performing combat missions. Currently, Ukraine has received "the first 10 F-16 fighters out of 79 possible," and the country is expected to have 20 F-16s by the end of 2024.
