DISINFO: The Association Agreement with Georgia benefits only the EU
SUMMARY
The only benefit of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia is visa liberalization. However, it is beneficial only to Europe, as Georgian tourists represent an additional source of income.
RESPONSE
The claim is ungrounded. Since Georgia signed the Association Agreement with the European Union, its export to the EU countries increased by USD 599.7 million. The EU allocated EUR 179.5 million for improving the agricultural sector in the 2013-2022 period. Since 2014, 3,607 Georgian students received education in European higher education institutions through the EU funding. Further debunking by Mythdetector.
