DISINFO: The Baltic states have no independent foreign policy and are just mouthpiece of the EU
SUMMARY
Activities of Lithuania, linked to the enlargement of the EU, could explain fact that Vilnius has no independent foreign policy. Lithuania, as well as other Baltic states, plays the role of mouthpiece for a supranational actor known as the EU.
RESPONSE
Recurring narrative presenting the Baltic states as puppets of the EU.
Lithuania has a clear vision and strategy of foreign policy. Between official documents in this sphere could be mentioned the Plan of Strategical Activities 2019-2021 of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania (here in Lithuanian language). Topical goals of the foreign policy of Lithuania are also presented in the Programme of the Eighteenth Government of the Republic of Lithuania (December 2020, see points 247-268).
Information about the main points of the foreign policy of Latvia is available here. Information about the foreign policy of Estonia - see here.
In similar cases of disinformation, the Baltic states are presented as American puppets (together with some other countries) and states that live under external control.
