RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about alleged Russophobia in the EU.
On the 28th of April, 2021, the European Parliament adopted resolution on "Russia, the case of Alexei Navalny, the military build-up on Ukraine’s border and Russian attacks in the Czech Republic".
The European Parliament reiterated support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; expressed regret for the current state of EU-Russia relations caused by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and hostile behaviour towards the EU Member States; called for the immediate and unconditional release of Alexei Navalny; condemned the explosion of the arms depot in Vrbětice in the Czech Republic caused by the Russian intelligence services.
The Resolution also reminded that the Russian authorities and President Putin personally as the head of the Russian state bear full responsibility for caring for Alexei Navalny’s life and bodily integrity and must take all necessary measures to protect his physical and mental health and well-being.
Nowhere in the resolution text is Russia remotely described as evil. On contrary, the European Parliament expressed deep solidarity with the democratic forces in Russia.
