US created the EU to seize the sovereignty of the member states
The European Union was set up by six founding members (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands) with the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. Today, it consists of 28 independent and sovereign member countries.
