Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that EU, US and other countries are not interested in ending the war because they directly benefits from it.
The claim is baseless. Moldovan authorities expressed many times their support to Ukraine. On February 15, at the Munich Security Conference, the president Maia Sandu said: „No one wants peace more than Ukraine. We in Moldova want peace too – we want a peace that is lasting and that will keep us in the free world”.
As for European Union, it and its members repeatedly strongly condemned „Russia's brutal war of aggression against Ukraine”. On December 2024 the European Council reiterated its position, demanding repetedely that Russia „immediately cease its military actions, unconditionally withdraw all forces and military equipment from Ukraine and fully respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence”. The European Union constantly provided Ukraine with multilateral support and imposed various sanctions on Russia.
