DISINFO: The so called “Global Coalition victories against DAESH” are fake
SUMMARY
The statement of the Global Coalition against DAESH talks about delusive American and Western victories that do not exist, and about plans to defeat DAESH. All the peoples of the world know that they are misleading and contradict the realities of American policies on the ground. The armed forces of the Syrian Arab Army and the Russian forces contributed to the defeat of DAESH, in addition to the Iraqi army and combatants aiming towards the defeat of terrorism in the region, noting that the coalition attacks were "affecting innocent civilians and non-military facilities in both Syria and Iraq”.
RESPONSE
Recurring disinformation narrative about the Syrian war, and the fight against Daesh, trying to take away the effort of the Global Coalition and limit the fight to certain parties. The disinfo message is a quote from the Syrian Foreign Ministry
UK Army Maj. Gen. Felix Gedney, former deputy commander of Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the main objective of the Global coalition made of 83 partners said that the Russian and Syrian regimes are mounting “extremely aggressive” information operations, spreading disinformation and distorted narratives on social media in a bid to shape the strategic landscape of the operations against DAESH.
Since the beginning of operations in 2014 until April 2021, the Coalition and partner forces have liberated nearly 110,000 square kilometers (42,471 square miles) from DAESH, eliminating their self-proclaimed territorial caliphate and freeing 7.7 million people from DAESH oppression.
