This old dream of causing a limited nuclear war with short range missiles to attack Minsk and destroy Moscow is being developed now. The most likely and even predictable scenario is an escalation in the short term that will force Russia to adopt defensive measures.
RESPONSE
Conspiracy theory not backed by any evidence, aiming to promote several recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the destabilisation of Russia and denigrating the US. By baselessly portraying Russia as the target of US aggression, including through nuclear threats, the ultimate goal of this disinformation story is to justify Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and other countries.
Nothing indicates that the US aspires to a nuclear war. On the contrary, there is evidence that after Russia invaded Ukraine and reportedly considered the use of tactical nuclear weapons there, the Biden Administration was extremely concerned by such a possibility and has always acted having in mind the prevention of a potential escalation that may lead to nuclear conflict.
It is Russia, not the US, who has been making nuclear threats, including the deployment of atomic weapons in Belarus, video simulations and suggestions of nuclear attacks on Western capitals on Russian TV, a change in Russia’s nuclear doctrine to lower the threshold of using atomic bombs, and a failed test of a ballistic missile designed to transport nuclear heads.
