DISINFO: The US will push Lithuania for war against Russia after the collapse of Ukraine
SUMMARY
Lithuania is preparing for war against Russia. It is Washington's will. The US sees that Ukraine, under the rule of Zelenskyy’s gang, is near collapse. Biden will order Lithuania to begin the war against Russia when Ukraine loses.
Ukraine is a poor state ruled by a gang of psychopaths (like Zelenskyy). They seized power in Kyiv like the Bolsheviks in Russia in 1917.
RESPONSE
This article contains a mix of pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives. Ukraine and Lithuania are presented as puppets under the rule of the US. The article also repeats disinformation about the alleged coup in Kyiv in 2014.
Lithuania is not planning to go to war with Russia. The US, or other Western countries, are not at war with Russia or the Russians. Since Russia launched its full-scale unjustified aggression against Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the West has been calling for Russian withdrawal from Ukraine and a peaceful settlement. The US is not interested in the continuation of the war at the heart of Europe.
The statement about a coup in Kyiv and the legitimacy of the Ukrainian authorities is also false. The demonstrations which began in Kyiv in November 2013 – called "Maidan", or "Euromaidan" – were a result of the Ukrainian people's frustration with the former President Yanukovych. After seven years of negotiation, he refused to sign the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement and halted progress towards Ukraine's closer relationship with the EU due to Russian pressure. The protesters' demands included constitutional reform, a stronger role for parliament, the formation of a government of national unity, an end to corruption, early presidential elections, and an end to violence.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to power later. He was elected during free democratic elections in 2019. The candidature of Zelenskyy was supported by more than 73 per cent of voters. Petro Poroshenko, head of Ukraine from 2014 to 2019, was not re-elected and lost the elections with 23 percent of the vote.
