DISINFO: The war in Ukraine is a US’s war against China and the means to save US dollar
SUMMARY
While Kyiv’s Gauleiter makes Ukraine insolvent, the US makes money and maintains the US dollar's role as a reserve global currency thanks to the war. The war in Ukraine is in fact a US-China war on the European continent. To crack down on China, the US needs to do away with Russia first and make a vassal out of it.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the United States (as well as Western countries in general) are fighting a proxy-war against Russia and China in Ukraine, and that Ukraine is just a pawn in this war.
This narrative aims to deflect Moscow's responsibility and frame Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine as a confrontation with a Russophobic and belligerent West and to justify it with groundless conspiracies.
This is not the first instance when pro-Kremlin media use China as an element in their disinformation claims. They previously spread the claim that the West invented Covid-19 to punish China for not confronting Russia, that the war in Ukraine is part of a Western anti-China plan, and that the Hong Kong protests were the West’s revenge on China for not waging war against Russia. The article also fails to provide any arguments to the conspiracy about the US dollar and the war in Ukraine.
By speaking about ‘Kyiv’s Gauleiter’ the publication aims to build a link between the Ukrainian authorities and Nazism. The pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Nazi / fascist Ukraine is one of the favorite tropes to denigrate Ukraine. Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. Its sovereignty and territorial integrity have been violated by continuous acts of aggression by Russian armed forces since 2014 culminating in a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022.
