Conspiracy theory. No evidence is given. The article’s claim is consistent with the recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the alleged support provided by the US and other Western states to ISIS in order to destroy Syria. This narrative about the West’s collusion with ISIS does not reflect reality: Western countries have engaged in major effort to combat ISIS and have contributed to its defeat, through the constant and ongoing work of the Global Coalition against Daesh. As for the claim that the West has planned for the destruction of Syria, the European Union was clear from the very beginning of the conflict in Syria that there can be no military solution and that violence must stop. The EU is committed to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state, and to a peaceful solution in Syria, as stated in the EU strategy on Syria.
