DISINFO: The West is considering of making Moldova "the second Ukraine"
SUMMARY
The West is irresponsibly eyeing Moldova for the role of a second Ukraine, and the current leadership of Chisinau is actively involved.
The current Moldovan leadership follows a pro-Western policy path, participating in the anti-Russian policy of the US and its satellites and the path of initiating that same escalation in relations with Russia.
At the end of May, the EU launched a civilian Partnership Mission in Moldova. Its anti-Russian nature is not even hidden, and the goal of the EU is to consolidate the pro-Western course pursued by the current leadership of the country and Moldova's mood for confrontation with the Russian Federation.

Turning Moldova into a second Ukraine implies that the West is responsible for the war in Ukraine. The claim that the West allegedly provoked the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine is one of the key messages of Putin’s propaganda. It was Putin’s personal decision to invade Ukraine and start the largest military conflict in Europe since WWII.
Moldova has been a sovereign and independent state since 1992 when it proclaimed its independence from the former USSR. As a sovereign state, Moldova is free to decide its own foreign policy and alliances.
Moldova is a military neutral state, as stipulated by its Constitution (Article 11).
On February 13 2023, Moldovan president Maia Sandu stated that the Moldovan government believes Russia has plans to destabilise the internal situation in Moldova in order to topple the democratically elected government. “The plan for the next period involves actions with the involvement of diversionists with military training, camouflaged in civilian clothes, who will undertake violent actions, attack some state buildings, and even take hostages,” Sandu told reporters at a briefing.
The EU Council launched the EU Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova) on 22 May 2023 under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) to enhance the resilience of the security sector in the country. The aim of the mission is to contribute to the strengthening of Moldova’s crisis management structures and to enhance its resilience to hybrid threats, including cybersecurity, and countering foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI). This is an exclusively civilian mission and is in no way aimed against Russia.
