DISINFO: The West will do everything possible to prevent Russia from leaving the war
SUMMARY
In 2025, the attention of all forces interested in ending the bloodshed will be focused on the US and the new presidential administration. Despite all the claims to sovereignty, the behaviour of the Kyiv regime and its readiness for negotiations will entirely depend on what tools Trump decides to use to freeze the conflict.
At the same time, it is absolutely clear that the West will do everything possible to the last to prevent Russia from leaving the war, since this is too convenient and profitable for it to continue to contain Russia and the Russians, knocking them out of world markets and worsening the economic situation.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, accusing the Western countries of actively trying to prolong the war in Ukraine. This message is part of a broader Kremlin narrative alleging that Russia is ready for peace and that Ukraine and its allies do not want it. The baseless claim was made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and possible peace negotiations with the new American administration. It also portrays the war in Ukraine as a proxy conflict against Russia, aiming to deflect Russia’s responsibility for the brutal invasion of its neighbour.
Western nations have always called for peaceful and diplomatic solutions to problems with Russia while upholding the rules-based international order. Moscow’s aggressive policy has led to a tougher and better-balanced policy toward it by the West.
Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. It has been coming up with different explanations and pretexts for its aggression since the beginning of its hostilities. Moreover, Russia was not forced to invade Ukraine. It was Putin’s personal decision to invade Ukraine and start the largest military conflict in Europe since WWII.
The claim about the West's goal to continue a hybrid war against Russia at any cost is baseless propaganda. Western leaders have repeatedly expressed their desire for peace, but emphasise that it must be a just peace that respects Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The West is not interested in war in the heart of Europe. In response to Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine which was launched on 24 February 2022, a broad coalition of more than 50 nations is providing Ukraine with military and technical assistance to repel Russia's aggression.
