The administration of the US president Donald Trump registered an appeal for recognition of the Donbas republics.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative attempting to show that different countries are ready to recognise Donbas as a separate part of Ukraine. Such narratives also repeat the lie that Russia is “not a part of the conflict” in Ukraine, and that it is an "internal conflict". In fact, anyone can register a similar appeal with the White House through a form on the official site. However, receiving such a letter does not mean that the White House agrees with the information that will be in the letter. The official position of the US regarding events in Ukraine has not changed. ''U.S. policy is centred on supporting Ukraine in the face of continued Russian aggression as it advances reforms to strengthen democratic institutions, fight corruption, and promote conditions for economic growth and competition. The United States does not recognise Russia’s attempted annexation of Crimea and continues to seek a diplomatic solution to the Russia-instigated conflict in eastern Ukraine," according to the US Department of State.
