DISINFO: Ukraine attacked a civilian market in Konstantinovka during Blinken’s visit
SUMMARY
The Ukrainian army attacked a market in Konstantinovka with a missile. Zelenskyy accused Russia of another war crime, but every time the Kyiv regime has a crisis about the support of its Western “partners”, these kind of situations occur. It is more than likely that this is a programmed provocation to coincide with the arrival of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Kyiv.
RESPONSE
The attack against the Konstiantynyvka market has been nearly universally attributed to Russia, which the same day, coinciding with the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Ukraine, also bombed multiple targets in the country, including Kyiv and the city of Izmail in the Danube Port area. Ukrainian authorities immediately condemned the attack, in contrast with Russian officials, which initially remained silent before disinformation narratives accusing Ukraine started to spread in pro-Kremlin outlets.
Konstiantynyvka remains under Ukrainian control and has been the target of multiple Russian attacks in the past, for example in March and September 2022 and again in March 2023. Russia has a background of both attacking civilian areas in Ukraine and accusing the other side of false flag operations.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that media wrongly accuse Russia of bombing the Kramatorsk railway station, that ‘Izyum atrocities’ were staged by Ukraine through controlled media, that the West may resort to its old false flag method with a chemical attack in Donbas, or that Bucha is another Ukrainian provocation.
