DISINFO: Ukraine cannot win the war against Russia even with all the weapons that NATO countries have

SUMMARY

US armaments package will not save Kyiv - even all the weapons NATO has would not. [...] Is there an answer to the question of how many weapons Ukraine needs to defeat Russia? Well, how can you put it? There is one. It needs all the weapons that NATO countries have in total. And even then, a Ukrainian victory would by no means be guaranteed.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, aiming to misrepresent and fuel resentment against Western support for Ukraine and develop a mentality ready for capitulation to Russian military aggression.

In fact, by the end of 2023, Ukrainian forces had liberated about 40% of the territory that Russia occupied following the February 2022 full-scale invasion. Steadfast Western military support, including deliveries of weapons, ammunition, and many types of light and heavy military equipment, including anti-tank and air defence systems, howitzers and drones is flowing to Ukraine to help it defend the integrity of its territories. All of this is making a difference on the battlefield every day, helping Ukraine to uphold its right of self-defence, which is enshrined in the United Nations Charter, especially in Article 51.

Even though Russia claims to be undefeatable even against all NATO capabilities, the battlefield results tell a different story, as exemplified by these two (here and here) recent reports on mounting Russian casualties.

See other examples of similar disinformation cases claiming that the West prolongs war in Ukraine by providing it with arms and political support, that EU knows Russia is winning its special operation and that Kyiv can’t win because Ukrainians and Russians are one Soviet people.
