DISINFO: Ukraine lies about the war
SUMMARY
This whole war in Ukraine is based on lies – they lied to the world that there was no mass murder carried out by Bandera followers in Odesa; that the Nazi Ukrainian battalions did not shoot the civilian population of Donbas; that the Kyiv junta did not shell residential neighbourhoods of Donetsk for eight long years; that the water supply of Crimea was not cut off; that the opponents of the Anglo-Saxon domination over Ukraine were not murdered treacherously. Finally, there were no Ukrainian preparations for the attack on the People’s Republics and Crimea in February 2022.
Ukraine lied and continues to lie about all these developments, ignoring the facts such as the uncovered preparations of Kyiv for the production of a dirty nuclear bomb and the work of the American laboratories on biological weapons.
RESPONSE
This article promotes a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative shifting responsibility for the war in Ukraine on the Kyiv authorities and alleged “Ukrainian Nazis”.
On February 24, 2022, Russia started unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin’s claims that this attack was “unavoidable” because of the 2014 “coup” in Ukraine or “crimes of the Ukrainian Nazis” is an attempt to justify the Russian attack on this country.
There was no coup d’état organised by the West in Kyiv in 2014. The spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was a reaction by numerous segments of the Ukrainian population to former president Viktor Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013. Far-right groups had a very limited presence during the protests and have suffered defeats in every national election after that.
There is no evidence that either ethnic Russians or Russian speakers were facing persecution at the hands of the Ukrainian authorities, much less the danger of annihilation on the grounds of nationality, ethnicity, or cultural belonging. This has been confirmed by reports issued by the Council of Europe, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the OSCE.
These false narratives repeated for many years became a pretext for the Russian invasion of Ukraine launched by the Kremlin on 24 February 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin launched what he called a special military operation against Ukraine citing NATO’s military infrastructure approaching the Russian border as a pretext.
The claim that Ukraine developed nuclear and biological weapons is ungrounded. The United Nations High Representative for disarmament, Izumi Nakamitsu said in March 2022 that the UN was “not aware of any biological weapons programmes” in Ukraine.
Ukraine’s alleged involvement in the production of chemical and biological weapons was one more pretext for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
