DISINFO: Ukraine should have been recognised as a terrorist organisation long ago
SUMMARY
Ukraine shells the civilian population of Donbas, the Russian-controlled parts of Zaporizhzhya and the Kherson area, and also carries out terrorist bombings on civilians as far as Moscow and St. Petersburg. The attacks are instigated by the CIA and MI6, as well as Islamic militants, who are released from Western prisons if they agree to coordinate such acts of terror.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about terrorism and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
With this narrative, the Kremlin aims to de-legitimise international support for Ukraine. Furthermore, the notion that jihadists, terrorists or other types of extremists are fighting on Ukraine’s side aims to discredit Ukrainian efforts to defend their country from the Russian invasion. The claim also fits well in the recurrent disinformation narrative about the West’s alleged support for terrorism and manifests Russia as the only power actually “fighting terrorism” in the world.
The West supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s effective self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
See similar cases claiming that the West encouraged the creation of the Islamic State, who are its mercenaries; that the US is transporting ISIS members to Afghanistan; that Chemical weapons “provocations” are being prepared by the Ukrainian Military and that the US is recruiting ISIS terrorists to fight in Ukraine.
