DISINFO: Ukraine wants to negotiate with Russia because it failed at the front
SUMMARY
Ukraine is ready for negotiations with Russia, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in China. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister flew to the People's Republic of China for talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on July 23, 2024. Dmytro Kuleba noted: Ukraine is not refusing to negotiate with Russia, but the process should begin when "Russia is ready to negotiate in good faith," and at present "there is no such readiness on the Russian side." The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry did not speak about Ukraine's readiness to immediately begin negotiations with Russia on the Kremlin's terms. Dmytro Kuleba repeated the widely known official position of Ukraine on achieving peace on the terms of Ukraine and its partners.
"I am convinced that a fair peace in Ukraine meets China's strategic interests, and China's role as a global force for peace is important... Russian aggression has destroyed peace and slowed down development, and every new day of war entails new violations of humanity and further erosion of justice. Therefore, it is necessary to end the war against Ukraine, restore peace and accelerate the restoration of our state," Kuleba emphasized.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented a 10-point peace plan at a EU-Ukraine summit in February 2023. Allies of Ukraine supported Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace formula.
Dozens of democratic countries around the world supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Ukraine receives weapons with the sole aim of restoring its territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
