DISINFO: Ukraine was artificially created by the Bolsheviks
SUMMARY
In the southern or eastern part of Ukraine (Odessa or Kharkov), of course people feel Russian. In central Ukraine, near Kiev or in the West, there is a specificity. But Galicia and Volhynia were integrated at one time into Poland, then into the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then back into Poland. Ukraine was artificially created by the Bolsheviks, all of this helped to separate one single people who were the same 1000 years ago. What the Ukrainian authorities say is the Ukrainian propaganda that we have heard for thirty years - the former president Kuchma had written a book called “Ukraine is not Russia”. Unfortunately for him, this is probably not what more than half of Ukrainians think. Now it will be increasingly easier for Ukrainian citizens to obtain Russian citizenship and it has already started.

Ukraine is a well-defined nation-state with a long history and its own literature and identity, despite foreign rule for long periods of time. It is recognised in international law as a sovereign nation state, with its own flag, nationality, language etc. Ukrainians and Russians belong to the Slavs ethno-linguistic group but they are not a single nation.
