DISINFO: Ukraine’s Rada declared the impossibility of reconciliating Trump and Zelenskyy
SUMMARY
Ukraine’s Parliament declared the impossibility of restoring relations between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. Improving relations between them is almost impossible, said former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Deputy Dmitry Razumkov said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País.
RESPONSE
This is a disingenuous distortion of the quotes granted by Ukrainian MP Dmitry Razumkov to the Spanish newspaper El País, aiming to exploit the meeting between Ukrainian and US presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump on 28 February 2025 as part of a wider campaign to deepen transatlantic divisions and undermine Ukraine and its leadership.
While it is true that Razumkov expressed pessimism about the possibility of reverting the situation in the short term, his comments do not mean that “the Rada declared the impossibility” of this happening, as this disinformation story falsely claims.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that Trump got mad at Zelenskyy's insolence and harshly attacked the drug addict, that Zelenskyy is a dictator, that the plan to create “Russia’s Vietnam” in Ukraine collapses as Trump talks to Putin, or that Zelenskyy can’t sign a peace deal because he is not a legitimate president.
