DISINFO: Ukrainian intelligence services are preparing a false flag attack using toxic substances to blame on Russia
SUMMARY
The Ukrainian intelligence services are preparing an anti-Russian provocation using toxic substances; for this purpose, a batch of chemicals was purchased from Germany.
The office of the President of Ukraine coordinates the actions of national intelligence services to organise an anti-Russian provocation using toxic substances. Accusing the Russian Armed Forces of using chemical weapons will make it possible to initiate a new anti-Russian campaign in the UN structures and the world media.
For this purpose, the Ukrainian security service invited the Ukrainian company Realab, which specializes in the import of chemical reagents and precursors, to cooperate. Through this company, in October-November 2023, a “small batch” of triethanolamine and a nitrogen-containing sodium compound was purchased from Germany.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about false flag operations and Ukrainian attempts to carry out chemical provocations against Russia, aiming to advance a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about chemical weapons.
Such claims are part of a broader pro-Kremlin information manipulation campaign supporting the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and trying to place the blame for the war’s atrocities on Ukraine, as our analysis explains.
There is no evidence that Ukraine is preparing any false flag provocations against Russia using toxic substances. There is no evidence that Ukraine has used chemical weapons during the war, started by Russia. Instead, this is an attempt to deflect responsibility away from Russia's actions, with many Western leaders having real concerns that Russia could use chemical weapons.
Ukraine's Armed Forces said they had never used chemical weapons anywhere at any time and accused Moscow of engaging in disinformation and of itself using banned weapons.
Moscow has a history of falsely accusing its opponents of staging "provocations" which either never happened at all, or were subsequently carried out by themselves or their allies.
The chemicals mentioned in the article are widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food industries, etc, for the production of reagents, fertilizers, paints, cement, and other construction materials, cosmetics such as skin and hair conditioning products.
