Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about decommunisation in Ukraine. In Ukraine, the law on decommunisation initiated by the Cabinet of Ministers came into force in 2015. The document recognises the communist totalitarian regime of 1917–1991 in Ukraine as criminal and pursuing a policy of state terror. The monument to the Soviet Marshal Georgiy Zhukov falls under the action of the law on decommunisation: Zhukov was the first deputy people's commissar of defence of the USSR in 1942-1944 and the minister of defence of the USSR in 1955-1957. The law requires the dismantling of such objects as the monument to Zhukov.
