DISINFO: Ukrainians burned a child alive and shot old people in the back in Kursk
SUMMARY
The Nazis were unable to block the highway to Kurchatov by surrounding the city of Rylsk. There was an incident: an 86-year-old grandfather, he was simply shot in the back. They brought a grandmother - she was shot in the back. She was taking her documents, ran away and was simply shot. And there was a 12-year-old girl, she was simply burned, set on fire. They have nothing sacred.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin disinformation about Ukrainians committing war crimes on Russian territory not supported by any evidence except for the so-called words of a local deputy. The names of the deceased child and the elderly individuals were not provided, and no eyewitnesses were interviewed.
This is reminiscent of the unforgettable pro-Kremlin media story from 2014 about a crucified boy in Slavyansk. Pro-Kremlin and other Russian state-controlled outlets showed a woman who claimed to be an eyewitness to the bloody massacre of a three-year-old child and his mother; several years later, as EUvsDisinfo wrote about, she admitted that she had only retold rumours. In 2014, none of the media outlets claiming the atrocities attempted to provide specific details, and no one even named the boy or his mother.
We are now seeing similar narratives about the Ukrainian advance into the Kursk region as the Insider points out.
Ukrainians are routinely treated by pro-Kremlin media as "Nazis" committing atrocities, in order to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
